How Many Designer Sunglasses Do You Need—The Obsession with Fashionable Eyewear
It’s hard not to notice how people are seemingly obsessed with designer eyewear. A few years ago, this was not the case. People looking for fashionable sunglasses only had a few choices, and they did not cost a fortune. Of course, premium brands such as Ray Ban already existed several years ago, but it was pretty much a small market. Today, there is an overabundance of brands of designer sunglasses—so much so that it is becoming harder and harder to choose. From the classic designs of Ray Ban, to the more sophisticated yet classic look of Tom Ford, designer sunglasses have never looked this good.
There is nothing wrong with being a little fashionable. Fashion—or, more specifically, keeping up with fashion trends or creating your style to accentuate your best features—is mainly a matter of becoming presentable. However, many people overdo it by buying several designer sunglasses. This begs the inevitable question: how many designer sunglasses does a person need? And, also, when did this obsession over designer sunglasses start?
It may be difficult to pinpoint its beginning, but it isn’t difficult to see what is fueling the flames. Designer sunglasses are pretty much the trademark of Hollywood figures—from Madonna to Zac Efron. In fact, celebrities are not only wearing them—they are also endorsing them, encouraging people to buy designer sunglasses. And this idea of endorsement can happen both consciously and unconsciously. For instance, who can forget the iconic image of Audrey Hepburn in the seminal film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. with her oversized sunglasses? Although Hepburn is one of the few people who have popularized the look, it nonetheless served as an effective advertisement, making such design for sunglasses a classic and classy look. And then there’s James Marsden as Cyclops in the X-Men movie? Sunglasses are important for Scott Summers, and in the movie, this conceit became a perfect excuse to show off designer sunglasses. It doesn’t help that practically everyone in Hollywood has been seen in designer sunglasses—and in several pairs, no less. In a way, they are making it seem as it owning more than one pair is more than just the norm; you are not part of the in crown if you do not own any.
In a way, there is nothing wrong with that kind of thinking. However, “normal” people really have no use for a closet full of designer sunglasses. The fact that they cost a fortune is another thing all together. Besides, these Hollywood figures have all the reason to wear sunglasses. As for everyone else, they are merely expensive accessories. Still, this doesn’t mean owning one or a few pairs is not proper. It cannot be denied that designer sunglasses can be the perfect fashion accessory. Owning one or two good (and expensive, needless to say) designer sunglasses would do no harm; in this day and age, it may even be a necessity. If you can afford it, there’s nothing wrong with owning more.

Laser Eye Surgery
An increasing number of people these days are opting for laser eye surgery as an alternative to wearing glasses. Advanced laser eye clinics like the highly respected Visualase Laser Eye Clinic in Bolton have invested heavily in the most advanced technology and nearly always achieve twenty twenty vision in their patients, even in the most challenging of laser eye treatments. There are two main treatments, a surface treatment where the laser is applied to the front surface of the eye which is called epi-lasek and the second treatment in which a thin flap of tissue is cut in the cornea which is then lifted up so that the laser can be applied to the exposed corneal tissue.
Lasik is the most popular because the eye heals very rapidly with little discomfort and with most patients able to drive the day afterwards. For more info click here.
